Some major franchises are kicking off their journey this year, while others are expanding toward the end of it. From highly anticipated releases to titles steadily making a name for themselves, these games are catching the attention of players around the world. Here are a few that might be worth adding to your collection.
Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)
Probably the most anticipated game of the past two decades, GTA 6 has been surrounded by delays and endless speculation. At one point, many people thought Rockstar was joking and that it would never actually happen. But it seems the official release date has finally been confirmed: November 19, 2026.
It will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the franchise will return 13 years after its predecessor, set in a fictional location inspired by Florida.
Without a doubt, this is a must-have for any gamer’s collection. Its open world promises endless adventures.
Wolverine
Anyone who grew up watching or reading X-Men probably has this iconic character among their favorites: Wolverine.
After the success PS5 has had with titles like Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel Entertainment and Sony are joining forces to release one of the most anticipated games for superhero fans.
It launches on September 15, 2026, and promises to be a pretty bloody experience—one that will remind us of the more savage side of our favorite X-Men character. I’m not sure I’d call him a hero, though, since Logan plays by his own rules.
I won’t think twice about adding this one to my collection.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
Many of us remember playing the Marvel vs. Capcom series and still miss those days when these two universes came together for hours of fun in front of the TV.
Marvel Tokon may be the closest thing we get to reliving that era. With 2.5D battles and 3v3, or even 4v4, matchups, this new franchise will let us play as legendary Marvel characters such as Spider-Man, Magneto, Captain America, and more.
It’s set to launch soon—on August 6, 2026—for PS5 and PC, and it promises to be a very entertaining fighting game.
Gears of War: E Day
What a franchise, ladies and gentlemen! It’s probably one of my all-time favorites and the first one I ever played on a Microsoft platform.
This will be the sixth main installment in the series, set 14 years before the events of the first game. That means we’ll get to play as one of our favorite protagonists once again: Marcus Fenix.
Exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC, with absolutely brutal graphics, this is an easy recommendation for fans of shooters and adventure games. Epic missions that will keep boredom away throughout the entire campaign.
So get your chainsaws ready and prepare to take down some enemies, because Gears 6 will be available starting October 6, 2026.
EA FC 27 (formerly known as FIFA)
No matter what they call it, we’re always going to call it FIFA.
Even though many players constantly complain about the changes to the mechanics—and feel overwhelmed by them, myself included—this franchise always ends up being a favorite among gamers and sports fans. Guilty as charged.
This title will introduce two major changes:
- It will feature an open-world game mode.
- It will include an even more expensive version: the Ultimate Edition Plus.
That’s right. As if the Standard and Ultimate editions weren’t enough, there’s now a new option that includes everything from the previous versions, plus bonuses that will help improve your teams in Ultimate Team mode.
One of the biggest criticisms has been the price of this edition, which is expected to be around $150—about $50 more than the Ultimate edition and nearly $80 more than the Standard version.
EA FC 2027 is scheduled to launch on September 25, 2026, across all platforms. However, Ultimate editions will include seven days of early access, allowing players to jump in starting September 18, 2026.

Bonus: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
As someone who loves Metroidvania-style games, I couldn’t pass up the chance to recommend this title. I’m especially excited because it will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise and will be developed by Motion Twin, the creators of one of my favorite games from recent years: Dead Cells.
The game will be available on October 15, 2026, for all platforms, and promises to deliver an epic adventure set in the Castlevania universe.
